XLR8: 6955U, 3/25, 0038+ Recorded most of it with the tuning off by 3 Hz, whoops. That makes song identification kinda tough. Excellent signal with a variety of music, but a lot of punk. Fear "The Mouth Don't Stop," Circle Jerks "Paid Vacation," Parquet Courts "Ducking & Dodging," Flamin' Groovies "Teenage Head," Dead Kennedys "California Uber Alles," And lots of obscure music that I can't identify.

Liquid Radio: 6925, 3/25, 0140+ Pretty good signal, clear ID at 0140. More like '70s rock music, rather than the regular electronic. Peter Schilling "Major Tom." Static levels really jumped around 0150 (or the signal dropped?), making this much less intelligible.

Cool AM Radio: 6925U, 3/25, 1238+ ID not long after I tuned in. Lots of WMPR-like electronic dance music. Nice signal. Thought I was hearing This Is Not WMPR for the 1st time

Gospel Music SW: 6925.4, 3/25, 1824+ Contemporary Christian worship music, such as Matt Redman "Bless the Lord," Chris Tomlin "How Great Is Our God," "Blessed Be the Name of the Lord," "You Are the Everlasting God," "Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty," "Here I Am to Worship," Promo with “on the 8th day, God created radio” & email address “Gospel Radio, your gospel shortwave station”

Unid: 6930, 3/25, 1824+ A pirate is also on with a nice signal here. I need to get another antenna up because I've got 6925.4 recording here & I'll check back here later after the I've got a decent chunk recorded.

Radio Cinco (tent.): 6260, 3/25, 2245+ Big signal, Spanish?-language talk, Radio Cinco ID, into The Chiffons "One Fine Day." I'm calling this "Radio Cinco" for the time being, but I dunno if that's a real ID from the station

Captain Morgan: 6949.9, 3/26, 0023+ Strong signal--even above the noise of the dishwasher & vacuum cleaner running. I guess this is a Chuck Berry memorial show: Cpn Morgan playing Chuck Berry "Too Much Monkey Business," "Brown-Eyed Handsome Man," "Sweet Little 16" A number of audio dropouts. I wonder if RF is getting into the CD player or computer?

Radio Eclipse: 6925U, 3/26, 1914+ Tuned in to a Billy Joel song, then a Steve Mann editorial from Radio Eclipse and Louis Armstrong "What a Wonderful World." BTW, I believe this is an old show from about 20 years ago. Good signal

This Is Not WMPR: 6925, 3/26, 2117+ Good signal, but some bad local QRM here. My 1st time to hear it. Female computer-voiced IDs. Dance version of "I'll Be Glad When You Are Dead, You Rascal, You"

Radio Cinco (tent.): 6260, 3/26, 2230+ Nice signal, but terrible local QRM. I'm guessing that this is the same station that I heard IDs as "Radio Cinco" last evening.

3/21/17: A few recent logs

I've been sending out a bunch of generic informational e-mails about the Global HF Weekend. My apologies for not sending personal e-mails to everyone right now, but I don't have time. I have been trying to respond to everyone who writes back, but I still have a few more e-mails to catch up with.

WHYP: 4065U, 3/20, 0111+ Excellent signal. I tuned in during an old Radio Bingo show, with lots of repeating phrases, etc. John Arthur wins the bingo prize! Also a few audio bits of Radio Free Euphoria and WMOE in the mix. Then into WHYP with plenty of music, including Sex Pistols “Anarachy in the UK” The Damned “New Rose” Ramones “Blitzkrieg Bop” The Lurkers “Shadow”

The Minutemen “History Lesson, Pt. II” The Nosebleeds “Ain’t Been to No Music School” Off after George Zeller repeated bits

The Relay Station: 5150, 3/21, 1608+ Manfred Mann "Blinded by the Light" The Doors "Riders on the Storm" & much more. Good/VG signal

Radio Free Whatever: 6930U, 3/19, ca. 0100+ Weak most of the broadcast. Didn't hear a lot, but did hear Dick Weed mention that he was going to sign off because the signal seemed to be skipping over most everyone now.

Radyo Oleg: 6965U, 3/20, 2148+ Poor, with some fair peaks. A Flock of Seagulls “I Ran” Laura Brannigan “Self-Control”Clear ID with “Radyo Oleg . . . Northern Ireland . . .shortwave, your station” with processing and delay on the final syllable of “station”

As always, the signal's awesome, but tonight there's more noise as we're heading into the spring & summer months (even if it doesn't feel like it tonight). Rainbow "Stone Cold"

0-60 Degrees Radio from Europe was testing in the afternoon on 21750 kHz LSB & 15880 kHz LSB, but unfortunately I missed the first & couldn't hear a trace of the station on latter frequency.

The Crystal Ship: 6876, 3/29, *2312-0142* Tuned in to 4 min. of dead air with full quieting. On with Jefferson Airplane "Someone to Love" then "Age of Aquarius." TCS "Flower Power" show announced. "San Francisco," "Along Comes Mary." Sudden off near the end of "Hungry for a Good Thing." Fantastic signal during entire show.

Radio Free Mars: 6924.4, 3/30, 0126+ David Bowie "Major Tom" news clip about someone having trouble making bail, back to "Major Tom." Pretty good signal, but some fades and pescadore QRM. It's been a few years since I've heard RF Mars, so great to hear again!

Radio Caroline: 6290.52, 3/27, 1640+ SINPO: 35544. Lots of jingles, some classical and pop music. It sounds like it might be into news in German because male and female announcers are alternating talking. E-mail address announced a few times. BTW, this is a tribute station to Caroline.

I received this eQSL because I wrote a note to the op, letting him know that I was listening in on the web receiver. He said the station was using 40 watts from the Czech Republic. I guess that was a decent catch from a receiver in Holland, at least at that power and signal level.

I've been behind with work and just starting to catch up, but I had a chance to check the radio (and will hopefully continue to do so throughout the weekend)

Old-Time Radio Unid: 6772, 5/24-25, 2310+ Fair signal with OTR shows. On HFU, Ed Insinger mentioned that he was hearing "Unshackled," but I evidently tuned in later because this show was comedy with a laugh track (or live audience laughter). At 0115, a comedy about a man trying to buy flowers, then an ad for a "stomach sweetener" and, I think, laxative. An orchestra playing "Accentuate the Positive." Sig up to S9+10, but noise is still pretty rough. Ah, heard the advertisers at the end of the show clearly: Sal Hepatica & Vitalis. Into new show with louder, clearer audio: Red Skelton. After the 6920 unid went off, I tuned back to 6772 and caught the end of what sounded like a WWII mystery with a professor. After a long pause, a number of big band songs (kinda EZL big band).

MAC: 6950, 5/24, 2311+ Excellent sig with Jimmy Stewart show & '40s music. Heard one of the singing M-A-C jingles

Unid: 6924.4, 5/25, 0014+ Just a carrier here. I'm assuming it's a pirate, but I don't know who

Renegade Radio: 6935U, 5/25, 0218+ A bit weaker than normal here and some Ute noise. Requesting reports & e-mails to add & HFU. Talking about listening to audio from the Winterfest & he plans to pull some of that up. Also, he hasn't heard back from WEAK Radio, so he said hi to him & said that he hopes he's OK

Unid: 6920U, 5/25, 0333-0343* Decided to check back on the radio & I found a big signal on 6920. The signal is strong and wide. I've opened it up to the 6-kHz bandwidth and it sounds great . . .so good that it reminds me of Wolverine's transmitter. Whatever station this is did a nice job buying, building, or modifying their transmitter. All instrumental ethereal music. Off at about 0343.

Pipeline Radio: 6925, 5/25-265, 2346+ Surfin' theme station. Lotsa Beach Boys & other surf music. Excellent S9+10 signal!

Old-Time Radio Unid: 6771.6, 5/25-26, 2345+ Went into the radio room and the R8 was still tuned to essentially the same frequency Big signal again, but noise is down a bit, making this much easier to listen to. EZL music here, just like last night after 0400. Still strong with EZL music, now light jazz and crooner music at 0142. Tuned back in at 0452 & this one is back to OTR. A dramatic presentation on this time

Voice of Honor: 6930U, 5/26, 0025+ Memorial Day theme station. Military music and IDs. Excellent signal with S9+20 peaks. Reports to voiceofhonor /at/ gmail dot com. "Don't Tread on Me" flag SSTV image at the end of the show

KCPR: 6925U, 5/26, 0424+ Very weak and tinny-sounding music on frequency. ID per logs from West Coast DXers on HFU. Adjusted the frequency a few Hz & it sounds a bit less tinny now. It still has a really far away sound. My 1st time to hear this one. Looking forward to hopefully logging one or more clear IDs. Heard presumably a CW ID for KCPR at 0433 . . . "presumably" because I don't copy code without a key in front of me (and even then, it's very slow). I think the music here is basically all country. Copied an SSTV image at the end of the show

Old-Time Radio Unid: 6771.6, 5/26, 1230+ Checked this morning & back again at 1425 and the station is still on the air with older easy-listening music. Presumably, this has been on since yesterday around 2000 UTC (possibly earlier).

Pirate Radio Boston: 6924.6, 5/26, 1425-1439* ID per HFU. Just heard clear IDs + e-mail address and Belfast, NY maildrop. Signal is weak here, but still nice to hear Charlie again.
